As a digital artist, Adobe Photoshop is an integral tool of the trade. While my main skills rest in adjusting low resolution/damaged photographs for the best digital garment print (my high score was processing 100 orders in one day), I’ve also edited many product and architectural photographs for print.

Justin Dille Construction

Due to a mix-up with their cabinet suppliers, Justin Dille Construction had to take their staged photographs of this Northstar Kitchen upgrade without the microwave border installation. I was commissioned to add a photoshopped white pine microwave border to their project photos.

Before

After

I’m in a kind of John Henry stalemate with AI—sure, maybe it could have figured out how to do this eventually. However, could it have gotten the gaps between cabinets and the microwave to their perfect 1/8”? Could it have chosen the correct sample of wood grain for each of the sides? Would it have adjusted the photos for proper web publishing? Even with two rounds of correction requests for architectural authenticity, this whole project of adjusting seven photos took me 1.5 hours total. Take that, AI.
